Nettle Creek Lions Club Grand Prix
Hagerstown, Indiana is our next stop, Saturday August 15th, for the Nettle Creek Lions Club Grand Prix. This is a unique one-day event, hosted by Robin & Ed Nugent, and we are grateful for their year round effort, promoting this race in conjunction with the festival. We have a great fan base and the change in the race course last year helped to increase that exposure by taking the track closer to the festival.
One improvement change has occurred. The 180 degree corner has been moved into the full intersection allowing a much larger arch in that corner. This was a pretty good passing zone last year, and this change should make it better, as well as relieve some of the potential of the track being blocked as it was in the past. Pit area and grid are still in the original location. Pit area will be available for early arrival Friday the 14th, after 5:00 p.m., and primitive camping is permitted. Please check the Nettle Creek Lions Club Facebook page for details on Friday night and Saturday night Festival activities.
Also, THANKS to the effort of Robin & Ed Nugent, the 4 Cycle Masters, Senior Briggs LO206, and Senior Yamaha classes will be racing for a purse that will pay $400 for 1st, $300 for 2nd, and $200 for 3rd place finishes in each of those three classes!
Saturday Race Schedule:
Practice and Race Rotation:
SIRA is very pleased to announce that the Clarion Waterfront Hotel & Conference Center, in Indianapolis, has been selected as the site for our 2015 SIRA Awards Banquet. We will be holding this event Saturday, November 14th. I know it's way early to be thinking about the season end, but I want everybody to mark their calendars now! This new venue will reflect the effort you all put into this race season, and is located just outside the Speedway, Indiana area. We've got a great evening planned, will hand out some well earned rewards, raffle off some fantastic items, and conclude with a little partying and dancing! Details will soon follow, and we will begin selling tickets ahead of time at all our remaining 2015 races.
New 2015 Schedule Announcement
We are very please to announce the addition of the Mel Kenyon Classic, a new street race in an old venue - downtown Lebanon, Indiana. SIRA is pleased to return to this community, after many years racing at Lebanon High School. The new race course is in the finishing stages of repaving, and will incorporate a week of activities, starting with their annual Fourth of July celebration, and continue with the race the following weekend. Details of all activities are being finalized, and we will announce them as soon as completed.
As for changes to our existing schedule, the race for Whitestown, Indiana has been cancelled, and the Callaway Park Grand Prix has been rescheduled to the final weekend of September (26th & 27th). The complete schedule is as follows:

New President's Message
First of all, I wish all of you the best and Godspeed as we throw ourselves into the competition of our season. Thank you all who’ve been part of getting us to this point, and let us all remember those who individually have helped you get here, too! It’s been a busy time for all of us, and personally I will enjoy seeing everyone in the coming weeks, with three events in the span of the great month of May. (Read More)
